I know you would think 328 from 1936-40 (only 461 produced), but all of the early BMW’s front grill (Kidney grill) had humps on the bottom with a distinct separate left and right. Even the short lived 335 and 502 had the same type front grill. Agree that other than the amber/red taillights, it looks older than 1958 to me as well.</p> <p>The roadster in back looks a lot like a prewar BMW 328 but the grille shape is wrong and I’ve never seen a standard bodied 328 with rear fender skirts. I do find it hard to see it as a 1958 or Vignale. Looks very Touring to me and they did have a trademark on (or at least were the main user of) the “Superleggera” name I think.<br> But I love the little white car. And I do think it looks quite little, particularly the rear wheel in the next to last Flikr shot. Vignale designs in 1958 were generally less rounded than this car, and the design of the 1953 Vignale-bodied Fiat featured on BaT in 2008 was a little less stately than this, pointing toward the gaudy to outlandish looks of many mid-1950s Italian carrozzeria creations. </p> <p>To everyone who’s guessing about the white roadster in the background of the top picture, I couldn’t find anything like it online, and I’m guessing that it is a one-off built on a prewar or early postwar Fiat or Lancia chassis.</p> <p>Bellcord: If I remember right, the car you’re thinking of was an Alfa Romeo 6C2500 “Freccia D’Oro” sedan. It would be all but unthinkable to blow one up now, but back then that style was far less sought after than the coachbuilt coupes, spiders and cabriolets.
